(June 25, 2010) Duncan Valley Electric Cooperative announces the retirement of CEO Jack Shilling. Jack and the board of directors agreed to a June 30, 2010 retirement date.
Jack has been the general manager/CEO since he was hired in July of 1991. At the time of his retirement, Jack was serving as a director for Southwest Transmission Cooperative, as a director for Grand Canyon State Electric Cooperative, and is a former director of National Rural Electric Cooperative Association. In addition to serving on cooperative boards, he also serves as a board member and treasurer for Greenlee County Country Club and Golf Course. He is a board member for Canyonlands Community Health Care which provides healthcare facilities across Arizona in rural communities such as Safford, Clifton, and Duncan.
Board President Johnnie Frie said, "The board congratulates Jack on his accomplishments and thanks him for his many years of service to cooperatives and the community. We wish him many happy years in his retirement."
The board will begin its search for a new General Manager/CEO immediately and plans to have an individual hired by October of this year.
Effective July, 1 2010, Mike Pearce, operations manager, will serve as interim general manager. The board is confident that the employees and management staff will successfully handle the day to day activities until a new manager is selected.
